1972 "Richard Petty" STP # 43 Plymouth Roadrunner Hardtop 1:18 Scale, made by AutoWorld.Highlights: Automobile World
® commemorates the famous Richard Petty ® with this 1972 Plymouth Roadway Runner. 1971 was the last year Chrysler would financially back the Minor racing team. Needless to state, he needed a new heavy-hitting monetary sponsor to support his 1972 season. Throughout the offseason, Richard was contacted by STP ® president Andy Granatelli days before the Riverside opener. Throughout their meeting, it was clear that Andy wanted STP ® to sponsor Richard Petty's automobile. Detail after detail were decideded upon in the collaboration ... other than one. Andy Granatelli didn't desire Petty's automobile to be any color besides STP ® red. Richard, on the other hand, chose not to own anything not Minor Blue. After hours of settlement late into the night, a deal was struck to paint his 1972 Roadway Runner STP ® red AND Minor blue. Nevertheless, there was no time to paint the automobile before the Riverside race. Richard Petty drove this solid-colored Petty blue 1972 Plymouth Roadway Runner to triumph bearing the STP ® sponsorship decals. 1972 was the last year that Richard Petty would own a Road Runner. Later on in the season, a new Dodge Battery charger replaced the iconic Roadway Runner legacy. Richard made himself the nickname "The King "for his winning accomplishments-among them 200 career wins and seven NASCAR Cup championships.Features: • Authentic Minor race graphics • Die-cast body • Sealed doors • Opening hood and trunk • In-depth chassis • Plumbed and wired engine
